A complete whole-home water filtration system in South Florida — whole-home carbon filtration, a water softener, and reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink, installed — costs $3,492 from Biscayne Water right now (regularly $4,989), or about $194 a month at 0% APR for 18 months. In our experience, big national water companies in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach routinely quote $10,000 to $15,000 or more for comparable systems. After installation, plan on roughly $32 to $50 in softener salt every 6 to 12 months and a $199 reverse osmosis filter set every 1 to 3 years.
What a complete system includes
Whole-home filtration usually means three jobs done at once: take out the chlorine and its by-products, remove the hardness, and give the kitchen tap true drinking water. A Complete System from Biscayne Water does all three.
- Whole-home carbon filtration. Jacobi AquaSorb catalytic coconut-shell carbon (NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 61) treats every tap in the house for chlorine, chloramine, and the disinfection by-products the EPA regulates.
- Water softener. ResinTech CG10-HP 10% crosslinked resin (WQA Gold Seal, NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and 372) with 48,000 grains of capacity. This is the part that actually removes calcium and magnesium.
- Control valve. A Hankscraft Runxin Rev4 ceramic-disc valve (NSF/ANSI 44 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372), rated for 28 gallons per minute, runs the system.
- Tankless reverse osmosis. The HW800 AlkaPro is a 7-stage RO unit with alkaline remineralization (NSF/ANSI 58 and 372). It has an 800-gallon-per-day membrane, a 2:1 water-to-waste ratio, and makes drinking water for roughly 2 cents a gallon.
The media tank is 10 inches by 54 inches; the brine tank is 15 by 15 by 35 inches. Installation is included and takes about 4 to 6 hours, with your water off for only 30 to 45 minutes.
Biscayne’s current price and the monthly math
The Complete System is $3,492 installed, which is 30% off the regular price of $4,989. The quote is flat and in writing, so the number you see is the number you pay.
Financing is available. There are two options, both subject to credit approval:
- 0% APR for up to 18 months — about $194 a month, with no interest.
- 9.99% APR for up to 120 months — about $46 a month.
Full details are on our financing page.
What moves the price up or down
- Tank size and flow. A single 10-inch by 54-inch tank handles most homes. Larger homes with several bathrooms running at once may need a dual-tank setup. More on that below.
- Reverse osmosis. RO at the kitchen sink is the standard at-home way to reduce dissolved contaminants like PFAS and lead. It is included in our Complete System. If another quote lists RO separately, add it in before you compare base prices.
- Add-ons. A second RO tap for a wet bar, an ice maker, or a refrigerator line is a common request. Ask us for add-on pricing.
- Installation. Our quote includes it. On any other quote, check whether labor and the drain connection are extra.
The water itself should not change the price much, because it is hard everywhere in the region. South Florida’s municipal water comes from the Biscayne aquifer, a shallow bed of porous limestone, so it is naturally hard. Water across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach commonly measures 200 to 350 ppm hardness, which is “very hard” on the USGS scale (anything over 180 mg/L). Find your city on our service area pages.

Ongoing costs: salt and RO filters
A whole-home system costs little to run after install. There are two recurring costs.
Softener salt
Salt runs $8 to $10 per 40-pound bag. You add 4 to 5 bags per refill, and a refill lasts roughly 6 to 12 months depending on how much water your household uses. That is about $32 to $50 per refill.
Reverse osmosis filters
A replacement filter set for the RO unit is $199. The labels say 6 to 12 months, but with whole-home filtration upstream doing the heavy lifting, our customers typically go 1 to 3 years between changes.
On the warranty side, the tank is covered for life, the control valve and electronics for 10 years, and labor for 1 year. We service everything we install for as long as you own the home. Prices here are estimates and may change.
How our price compares with national quotes
Here is what we see in the field: big national water companies in South Florida routinely quote $10,000 to $15,000 or more for whole-home systems comparable to ours, often at the end of a long in-home sales presentation. That is Biscayne’s experience, not an industry statistic.
We cannot tell you how another company sets its price. We can tell you what $3,492 buys here: a name-brand valve, carbon, resin and RO unit, each with NSF/ANSI certifications, plus a WQA Gold Seal on the resin. We are an authorized partner of Honest Water Co, a Texas equipment manufacturer, and we service everything we install.
How to compare quotes apples to apples
Two quotes for “whole-home filtration” can describe very different things. Get these items in writing from each company before you compare prices:
- Installed price. Does it include labor, the drain connection and the bypass, or is installation extra?
- Exact parts. Brand and model of the control valve, carbon media, softening resin, and RO unit. “Proprietary media” is not an answer you can check.
- Certifications. Look for the NSF/ANSI certifications on each part — 42, 44, 58, 61 and 372 — plus the WQA Gold Seal on the resin. NSF publishes what each standard covers, so you can check them yourself. These are third-party tests, not marketing.
- Softener type. Salt-based or salt-free “conditioner”? Only a salt-based softener removes hardness minerals. Salt-free units may reduce scale adhesion, but the water is not soft, spots stay on glass, and soap lathers less. See our guide to water softeners in South Florida.
- Whether RO is included. Whole-home filtration and reverse osmosis do different jobs. If drinking water matters to you, make sure an RO unit at the sink is in the quote. Our article on reverse osmosis vs. whole-home filtration explains the difference.
- Warranty and ongoing costs. How long on the tank, valve, electronics and labor? Who does the service? What do salt and RO filters cost, and is a service plan required?
Ask each company to put these details in writing so you can compare them line by line.
When a dual-tank system makes sense
Our Dual Tank Complete System is $3,992 installed (regularly $5,703). The same financing options apply, subject to credit approval. It uses two 10-inch by 54-inch media tanks instead of one, which gives more media capacity and supports higher flow through the house. It is the right call when:
- You have a larger home with several bathrooms in use at the same time.
- Showers, the washer and the dishwasher tend to run together.
- You have a big household and go through a lot of water.
For most single-family homes in South Florida, the single-tank Complete System does the job. During the free in-home test, our technician looks at your home’s size, fixtures and flow and tells you which one fits.
How to get a real number for your home
The prices above are our real prices, not starting points. Still, the right way to price a system is to test your water first. Our free 14-point in-home water test checks chlorine, lead, hardness, pH, TDS, iron, sulfates and more, with results on the spot. No obligation, no high-pressure pitch, and a flat written quote you can take your time with.
Biscayne Water is family-owned, licensed and insured, and has served Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach since 2009, with a 4.9-star average across more than 100 Google reviews. Book your free water test or call (305) 846-7352.
