THE BAD NEWS

Contaminant Exposure Is Not Only From Drinking Tap Water

Approved shower illustration with skin-barrier detail

Common City-Water Contaminants:
Chlorine, chloramine, chlorite, haloacetic acids, and THMs such as chloroform and bromoform.

You are not only exposed by drinking it: disinfection by-products such as THMs can be inhaled as steam in hot showers and baths and absorbed through the skin.

Whole-Home Filtration

THE GOOD NEWS

Biscayne Water installs whole-home filtration systems in just ◷ 4 to 6 hours on average, helping remove chlorine and other contaminants at your main water line for cleaner water throughout your home.

  1. 1

    5-Micron Sediment Pre-Filter

Polypropylene captures dirt, sand, rust and other suspended particles.

  2. 2–3

    Dual Carbon Block Pre-Filtration

Reduces chlorine, chloramines, organic contaminants and disinfection by-products such as THMs; also targets TCE.

  3. 4

    800 GPD Reverse Osmosis Membrane

95–99% total dissolved solids reduction. Filtration down to 0.0001 microns helps reduce heavy metals, PFAS, microplastics and fluoride; targets bacteria and viruses.

  4. 5

    Pre-Alkaline Carbon Polish

Reduces residual gases, tastes and odors before remineralization.

  5. 6

    Alkaline Remineralization

Adds calcium, magnesium and zinc for a natural spring-water taste. Balances pH to 8–9.5.

  6. 7

    Coconut-Shell Final Polish

Polishes taste after remineralization for a crisp, refreshing finish.

1. Clack® WS1 Control Valve

Illustration of the Clack WS1 control valve
  • A single reciprocating piston and a one-piece seal stack do all the switching—the control valve independent dealers have built on for decades.
  • Glass-filled composite body with a four-position 1-inch full-flow bypass built in.
  • Meter-based regeneration: it counts the gallons your home actually uses instead of guessing on a timer.
  • Serviced without special tools—caps and nuts are hand-tight and the seal stack lifts out with your fingers.
  • Designed, assembled and water-tested in Windsor, Wisconsin.

Organic coconut-shell catalytic carbon. Helps reduce chlorine, chloramine, disinfection by-products, pesticides and volatile organic compounds.

Why We Chose Jacobi

Our equipment partner, Honest Water Co, reports testing carbon from over 20 manufacturers. Jacobi was the only source with no detectable arsenic in those tests. We chose its premium carbon to put quality first.

4. NSF-Certified Fiberglass Holding Tank

Cutaway illustration of a fiberglass mineral tank showing the seamless liner and filament-wound shell

A seamless high-density polyethylene liner, overwrapped with filament-wound fiberglass. Your water only ever touches the liner; the fiberglass carries the pressure.

  • One-piece liner—no seam to split, and no metal inside to rust.
  • Rated to 150 psi with a 4:1 safety factor and a 600 psi minimum burst.
  • Pressure-cycled 100,000 times from 0 to 150 psi, which exceeds the NSF/ANSI 44 minimum.
  • Rated for 40–120°F service, so a garage or utility-closet install is well inside spec.

What Is Softener Salt For?

1. Resin Makes Hard Water Soft.

Resin beads catch calcium and magnesium—the minerals that cause hard water, scale and cloudy spots on glassware.

Before and after: scale on shower glass, faucet and drinking glasses

Less scale helps protect dishwashers, washing machines and refrigerator water systems from mineral buildup, helping them work efficiently and potentially last longer.

Gentler On Skin & Hair

Softer water helps reduce mineral buildup on hair and soap residue on skin. Less residue may help reduce the dryness and irritation it can cause.

Woman brushing her hair

2. Salt Cleans The Resin.

Ion exchange: salt ions in, calcium and magnesium minerals out

Salt water flows from the brine tank into the main tank.

Salt releases the minerals (calcium and magnesium) trapped on the resin beads.

3. The System Adds Water For Next Time.

Salt regeneration water cycle

Used salt water and minerals flow out through the drain pipe. Fresh water refills the salt tank and dissolves salt for next time.

Add More Salt When It Runs Low.

New system? Check the salt after four weeks, then every 4–8 weeks until you learn your refill pattern. Top up with 4–5 bags as needed; water use affects timing.

We usually program the regeneration cycle for nighttime after every 4,500 gallons—about every 2–4 weeks, depending on use. We can adjust the time and frequency.

Regeneration may cause rushing or hissing sounds.

4. What About Salt-Free Conditioners?

Helps Limit Deposits

  • May reduce hard, chalky deposits in pipes, appliances and on fixtures.
  • No salt refills or brine rinse.

Does Not Soften Water

  • Hardness minerals stay; water does not get softer.
  • Water spots can remain on glassware and fixtures.
  • Soap may not lather or rinse as well as in soft water.

For Truly Soft Water, We Recommend Salt-Based Softening.

Salt-based softening removes hardness minerals for better soap lather and rinsing, with fewer mineral spots. Salt keeps it working.

A smoother install
starts with a few photos.

Text clear photos: close-ups and a wide view.

Close-up of the kitchen sink faucet

1Kitchen Sink Faucet

  1. Send a faucet close-up. We match its finish to your new drinking-water faucet.
  2. Show your sink, cabinets and adjacent dishwasher.

2Under the Kitchen Sink

  1. Open the doors. Show the plumbing and the nearby dishwasher.
  2. Leave room for the tankless reverse osmosis system: 6″ W × 18″ D × 15½″ H.
  3. Show an unused outlet with continuous power. It must stay on when the garbage disposal is off and cannot use the disposal wall switch.

Not Sure If It’ll Fit?

Send photos with a measuring tape showing the space.

3Main Water Line & Surroundings

  1. Show the main water entry pipe and shutoff valve.
  2. Include the floor, walls, outlet and drain.
  3. Not sure where it enters? Check the garage, water-heater area, utility room or basement. We can help identify it.

⊕ Tap to enlargeTank sizes shown above; send a wide view of the area.

Power Outlet Requirements

  • The whole-home filtration system and tankless reverse osmosis system each need their own standard 110V/120V outlet with continuous, unswitched power.
  • The tankless reverse osmosis outlet must stay on when the garbage disposal wall switch is turned off.
  • An outlet may be available behind your dishwasher. Our installer can check if it is safely accessible. Please leave the dishwasher in place.
  • If a new outlet is needed, hire an electrician separately. Electrical work is not included in our installation price.
  • Prefer an option without power? A conventional tank reverse osmosis system does not need an outlet.
